SUMMERSIDE (PE) – The Atlanticade Motorcycle Festival is very pleased to announce that Veterans Affairs Canada will be partnering with their event which runs from June 28th to July 2nd, 2012 in Summerside, P.E.I.

Atlanticade will be paying tribute to the military history of Prince Edward Island with a number of activities that will expose participants to the past and present Island contribution to Canada’s Armed Forces. Activities include a Red Friday Rally, a guided visit to the Heritage Site at the former Canadian Forces Base Summerside, guided tours to the PEI Regiment Museum in Charlottetown, a Canada Day celebration at Legion Branch #5, and a poker run to several Legion Branches on the Island.

“We contacted Veterans Affairs to inform them of the focus Atlanticade would be placing on the military aspect and they agreed to partner with us to provide funding to assist in covering the expenses related to these activities” explains festival chairman Dale Hicks.

As a non-profit organization the Atlanticade festival is very appreciative of all funding contributions but Hicks says the organizing committee is particularly pleased with the partnership support from Veterans Affairs. “This will assist us in making sure these events are well organized and put on in a professional manner” stated Hicks. “Of course we would not want it any other way when it comes to paying tribute to our men and women in uniform”.
