SUMMERSIDE (PE) – March 12, 2012 – The Atlanticade Motorcycle Festival will be partnering with the Summerside Boys & Girls Club as the main charity for this year’s event. The festival will he held over the Canada Day long weekend, beginning June 28th and running until July 2nd.

Atlanticade Festival chairman Dale Hicks says the decision to partner with the local Boys & Girls Club was made easy after an initial meeting with Adam Binkley the long time Executive Director of the Club. “We actually met by chance one day during lunch at a local burger joint in Summerside. He was at another table having a discussion about Atlanticade when I pulled in. We had a great conversation about his organization, I toured their facility that afternoon, and it was obvious to me that this was a great cause worth supporting” states Hicks.

The Boys & Girls Club will benefit from a variety of activities during the Atlanticade weekend that are geared to raise funds for the organization. There will be a food station located on site staffed by volunteers from the Club, donations collected as part of the Best-In-Show contest, a portion of the 50/50 draw, along with proceeds from the auction at the closing Awards breakfast will all combine to generate funds.

In addition the Club is holding a Harley Draw with the actual draw taking place on Canada Day at the Summerside #200 Air Force Wing. Tickets will soon be available through the Atlanticade website.

All together it will be a great weekend for the Summerside Boys & Girls Club according to Binkley. “Atlanticade coming to Summerside is a great opportunity for the entire community and we are extremely pleased to be associated with this event. Our volunteers will be out in full force that weekend to help make the festival a success. The kids are excited and so are the parents. It will be a fantastic Canada Day weekend on PEI”.

This marks the 6th year for Atlanticade and Hicks says early registrations indicate it should be the best attended to date, weather permitting. “As of today we have passed the total number of pre-registrations for all of last year. Participants from 5 provinces and 5 states are included in those numbers. No question it should be a record year for attendance” stated Hicks.

Organizers will soon be announcing details of a key musical act that will be playing one and perhaps two shows during the event. They are also hopeful to be able to join up with the Confederation Bridge in celebrating their 15th anniversary.

“Once all these activities come together it will result in a huge weekend for motorcycle enthusiasts” says Hicks. “No doubt Atlanticade will be the place to be on the Canada Day weekend.”
