SUMMERSIDE (PE) – The 8th annual edition of the ATLANTICADE Motorcycle Festival kicks off this Friday on Prince Edward Island and all indications are it will be the best one yet.

With five days of sunshine in the forecast, a full slate of activities to entertain participants, and registrations from across North America the five day festival will headquarter in the City of Summerside from June 27th to July 1st.

“Pre-registrations are up over 2013. We have participants coming from every province except Saskatchewan along with someone from Yellowknife” says Atlanticade chairman Dale Hicks. “State side we have riders coming from seven states mostly located in the New England region”.

The event will see an increased number or members from the Canadian Army Veterans (CAV) motorcycle group as they will be having their annual general meeting as part of ATLANTICADE. In addition the CAV organization will play a major role in both the RED Rally and dedication of the Highway of Heroes both of which will take place on Saturday.

Added to that is the Portraits of Heroes display which will be on site for the weekend and features tributes to the 158 Canadian soldiers who died during the recent Afghanistan mission.

Throw in live entertainment in the Budweiser tent, stunt shows, vendors, motorcycle parades, a run across the Confederation Bridge, a pig roast at the barn, a car show, a lobster dinner, plus a variety of other events taking place in town this weekend and there should be something for everyone to enjoy.

“No question this is the most extensive schedule of activities we have ever undertaken” says Hicks. “It all adds up to a great five days of fun friendship, and freedom of the road”.
